SHORT HISTORY

The Muguraşul folk group was founded in 1978 with the purpose of transmitting the Romanian folklore, on professor Dinca’s initiative, manager of the School Lesile, Dolj.

It consists of: 32 children- dancers, a Band of 5 instrumentalistes (a clarinet, a violin, an  accordion, a double bass and  a luth) and 2 singers.

In order to prevent the dissolution  of the folk group because of financial problems, it was created the Amaradia Foundation (it’s the name of the river that  flows in this departement). Its target is to find the financial resources to continue the cultural activity.

Therefore, in spring 2003, the Muguraşul folk group entered under the administration of the Amaradia Foudation from Simnicu de Sus, Dolj departement.

              REPERTORY

It includes traditional folk dances from the region of Oltenia and from the other regions of the country,  Moldavia and Transylvania:

-         The Suite from Oltenia “There, in the valley”
-         The girls’ dance “The clock”
-         “Calusul”
-         The Suite from Moldavia “Huţurca”
-         The Suite of Oas “Neastâmpăraţii”

The dances are announced by folk songs from each folk region. They are interpreted by soloists and by instrumentalistes:
-         “The way to Gorj is so long!”
-         “I have passed the Olt”
-         “The rose from Moldavia”
-         “Last night I have bought a neckerchief for you”
-         “Good evening, friends”

The choreography is made by Master Ionel Garoafă, choreographer of the Maria Tanase Folk Group, Craiova.
Musical Manager: Ion Cârstoiu and Marius Oprea

            ACTIVITY

From its origin, the Muguraşul Folk Group has been promoting  the Romanian folklore in Romania and abroad. We can thus mention its presence at the national and international festivals:
- the “SOAROM”  Festival- Sângeorz Băi – 1997
- the „Căluşul românesc” Festival , Slatina – 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
- the Festival  “Inherited from the ancestors” Botoşani – 1998
- the  Festival “At the origin of dor” Şimleul Silvaniei – 2001
-the Festival “The golden fish” Tulcea – 1999, 2000, 2002

We were very happy in summer 2003, when we had the opportunity to present our folk treasure abroad, in the south of France:

        FUTURE PLANS

In our opinion, the Romanian folklore is a religion, an anthem and a confession, the work the most beautiful and the purest of the Romanian peasant’s heart. The Muguraşul Folk Group has the target to promote the Romanian Folklore abroad and for this it is searching for financial resources, mainly in the Oltenia region.

That’s why we address to those who are interested by the moral and financial support of the Romanian folk traditions our sincere message of supporting us in our enthusiast activity of presenting the purity and the beauty  of the Romanian folklore.
